I’ve kinda been fantasizing about making a video inspired by Koe no katachi (A silent voice) It would have to be Danish sign language though, of course, and I’d add subtitles.
So I’d say it’s worth a watch for those who enjoyed the original Japanese version as well :) a silent voice the shape of voice koe no katachi english dubĪnd that’s like really ambitious animation-wise I know xD But I wonder if I could like record myself, signing whatever I want to sign, and then animate over my hands and put them on whatever character I’d want to make speak sign language… There’s a lot of culture in language, which is why translations like these can be difficult.īut I honestly think that A Silent Voice does a very decent job at this. That’s what makes translation between languages difficult staying true to the original intention while not translating everything word for word and therefore making it sound unnatural. It sounds like whoever the people were who translated it were both loyal to the original lines while also making sure it didn’t sound unnatural in the English language. I haven’t watched the full thing yet, but the scenes I have watched, sound more than decent. Not right now at least xDĪll I want to say is that every once in a while, you do come across a very decent dub of a non-English movie and honestly, I think A Silent Voice is one of those.
I could make a huge rant and explanation as to why I think that’s very natural (given how difficult translation between languages can be and so forth) but I don’t want to write such a rant here. I’m gonna be perfectly honest and admit that I’m definitely one of those anime/manga fans who usually despise the English dubs of any originally non-English movie.
