I mean, you download/update/patch the game faster by using Steam servers rather than RS ones. The only benefit you get by getting the game from Steam is 'faster servers'. If you buy the game from Rockstar and not from steam.then you will still be able to have it in your Steam Library by adding a 'non-steam mod' that you can do by clicking ( +Add a game ) and if you then run the game from Steam Library then you will get the Steam Overlay aswell.So my opinion is that buying it from a local store in your country/area will be better. But the retail version goes only for the Rockstar Social Club. What I really want to know is this: if I buy the Rockstar version will I be able to play with my friends that have bought it on steam? I am asking since I am gonna go and buy the retail version from a local shop since my download speed is really slow and it would take two weeks to download or something and the amount I pay is the same.
